Theme Basket Auction
The Month of May is Polish Heritage Month. On Sunday, May 18th,
2003, during the first annual Polish Heritage Festival at the Creekside
Banquet Hall, 2669 Union Road, Cheektowaga, N.Y. there will be a
Theme Basket
Auction organized by the Buffalo-Rzeszow Sister Cities, Inc.
in cooperation with the Polish Union of America.
All proceeds from this auction will benefit “Dom Samotnej Matki i
Interwencji Kryzysowej", the Single Mothers Home in Rzeszow. For

Donated theme baskets
can be delivered to the PUA Headquarters, at 745 Center Rd., West Seneca, NY
14224.
Proceeds will benefit needy children in Buffalo's Sister
City in Poland - Rzeszow.
Some suggestions for
the Chinese Theme Basket Auction
(cost of items is
determined by the giver, but the overall value of each basket should be
minimum of $50 - examples):
- sports items. Could be a variety of sports items or one specific
sport (or team) ex: Sabres cap, hockey puck, t-shirt, mug , pen, (got the
idea? ) then if you want to increase the value, add a pair of tickets to a
game.
- camping. camping utensils, first aid kit, etc./ increase in value -
sleeping bag, or tent! or gift certificate from a sporting goods store
-"picnic in the park" . paper plates, napkins, tablecloth, disposable
grill, ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper, all in a Styrofoam cooler.(Items
do not have to be in a "basket"...any container will do (if one is
necessary)
-barbeque. barbeque sauces, barbeque utensils/ additional: grill of any kind
- college dorm. bathroom supplies, school supplies, fast food coupons,
/additional: CD's
- mother's day. Vase w/ gift certificate from a florist.
- Anniversary. bottle of wine or champagne, a pair of wine glasses,
dinner certificate.
- Birthday. balloons, tablecloth, napkins, paper plates, with a gift
certificate for a birthday cake
- one log with a gift certificate attached for a cord of wood delivered.
- Fish bowl w/gift certificate from fish store
- hobbies. Like a bestseller book w/gift certificate from book store;
golf balls and gift certificate, etc.
-" Buffalo Basket" -gift certificate for Redlinski's kielbasa,
Weber's mustard, Charlie the butcher's "beef on weck", tickets to a Buffalo
sporting event, or museum, etc.
- "Polish Basket" - Polish made items
- Italian dinner. pasta, colander, tomato sauce, spices, pot, napkins, etc.
- things grouped together by "theme" like " Frog items," "Apples", " cat or
dog", "angels", "craft kits" etc.
- two gift certificates "dinner and a movie" two tickets for a movie,
and a gift certificate to a restaurant
- or something simple would be a box of microwave popcorn and a video. (or
certificate for a rental)
Don't forget, a basket is not necessary, any container will do , if one is
necessary.
Individual items are good too. We'll have "door prizes" and can use
smaller items as well. Ex: t-shirts, baseball caps, baked goods (pie, cake,)
bottle of wine, (age requirement), a child's toy, pet food, anything!
And of course, any Larger (more costly) items will be at a special table
with tickets of a higher cost.
