Sister
Cities group continues helping Rzeszów's less fortunate

Two needy units in Rzeszów,
Poland
— Dom Dziecka (an orphanage) and Dom Samotnej Matki i Interwencji Kryzysowej
(home for unwed mothers) — received much needed help last month from the
Buffalo-Rzeszów Sister Cities organization.
Dom Dziecka received a check for $2,000, the unwed mothers home, $5,500. The
checks were delivered by the Rev. Matt Nycz, vice chairman of Buffalo-Rzeszów
Sister Cities and Marcia Miecyjak, the treasurer of the organization.
The orphanage and a half-way house for troubled youths also helped by the local
Sister Cities organization have been showing marked improvement in physical
improvement since getting help from individuals and Buffalo Polonia.
The orphanage has had winter windows installed, its heating system upgraded, its
grounds leveled for playground use, a computer system installed and strollers
purchased designed for multi-tots occupancy.
In addition to improved bathroom and bedroom facilities, a half-way house now
has a multi-use room making it possible to keep occupants busy during their
brief stay there and in bad weather.
The unwed mother's facility is the newest undertaking by the local organization.
The funds will be used for the most critical needs at the home which is operated
by Catholic nuns in the Rzeszów diocese.
